How to sell paintings online:

The yellow-eyed woman on the canvas seemed to spread a ray of illumination all over the wall where she was hanging. There, next, an excellent depiction of a white horse.

Every wall on the room looks versatile, such that no one would believe that a single hand-painted them all.

Wow, this one seems to be funnily beautiful – a chubby bubbly baby looking under his pants to check if everything is in place. Oops, I meant his diaper.

Yes, it is my house and not an art gallery. When you visit my house, you will for sure find at least one painting brush rolling on the floor or even sometimes hiding secretly behind my ears.

Any artist for that matter is a gift oneself to this world. The art in one’s hand is priceless.

By the way, I am not patting myself on my back of course! I stand by all the hand workers out there.

Value of Paintings, Drawings, And Handicrafts:

Drawing, paintings, and handicrafts are all parts and parcels of my life. But do you know something, I made a living out of them.

I did not actually have a glittery jittery website of my own to sell my products. I was also not too good at technology.

But what made me is all my CREATIVITY.

When the smartest of the smartest computers cannot recreate my creativity, that is where I pulled up my collars and said, “I am an artist”.

How The Internet Market Place Helps Artists?

But I did not put a full stop right there.

Places on the internet like SKILLSHARE gave me tremendous opportunities to build, rebuild, and strengthen my artistic approach.

I simply clicked on it, ran faster behind my interest, wore the skilled glove in my hands, and simply sketched with the artist in me.

Then I was completely ready to make it into a business but of course with ethics.

What Are The Tools Required?

So, then comes the question where did I hang out now for promoting my products for a good photoshoot?

I began with photoshop but there were 1000s of products across the platforms. I got to know many standard services like GIMP, Pixlr, Picsart, iPiccy, PicMonkey, and more.

One common thing about all these products was that there was actually nothing in common. Sounds funny, but yeah, it’s true. They were all unique in their own way.

How Much Money Can You Earn?

That lead to me have branded my product with my touch and made a good look-at picture of it, what’s next?

I was stumbling behind without getting to know how to price my product.

Before deciding on it, I looked at the market trends too to be in par with the similar ones, because it does not really make sense when I decide to sell snow on a mountain, where one gets them free of cost.

Firstly, I sketched a list of input materials I used to make the art. I did not try to overprice them because you know what, I will be easily caught if I did.

Makes sense? Yes, it is important to put the original cost price, I realized. If I spent an hour of my time, I priced it to a minimum of $5.

So, the total price carried the cost of input materials and the number of hours I invested in it.

How To Sell Hand Drawings Online?

Selling artworks online would have been unimaginable a decade ago.

There were days, I was thinking of carrying my work over my head and shouting for buyers on the street.

Fortunately, I am born in this era, where the world looks no bigger than a hand’s fist. The penetration of the internet has made the impossible possible.

Getting the buyer is the toughest part, I felt. But that was made easy with such a vast list of online portals wherein I was able to simply put a picture of my product and claim it all for myself.

What could be easier than staying at home, sitting under the AC, and do marketing at a pin-dropped-silent zone? Yes, online portals gave me this comfort out on my fingertips.

Also, the penny I spend from my pocket to be a part of such portals also is also not too costly to make it unaffordable.

A clarity on pricing is way important and what is more important is to know where to sell the products.

I hunted for a detailed list and found them to look something like the below.

Final Words:

But apart from this, I felt I was missing something. What happened to the personal connection between me and my consumer?

Artistic works carry emotions with them like how we cry along with an actor who cries in a movie.

Online portals missed filling this sense of sensitivity and personal touch. The next void lied with marketing. I did have to improve on this stuff despite having a no-marketing background.

But I attempted to give excellent ads which helped even a skeptic believe that my work was unique.

Also, I made sure that I always called a carrot, a carrot in my ads, and not a burger!! Oops, that was weird though but makes sense.

Overall, a sensible product with a sensitive touch and immense effort went places beyond than I imagined I could reach.

So, I got the work, packed the stuff, did the best, and left the rest.

All the painting out there on my wall now started smiling at me as they were worth more than they thought they are.

True, I made a living out of everything there in my living room. Kudos!!
